Arctic Rafting Offers 2 types of whitewater rescue courses

Courses will be advertised here on this page and on our social media, courses can also be booked upon request if sufficient number of participants are available. Courses are taught at Drumbó river base and Tungufljót river. At our river base you have access to a small kitchen, sauna, showers and hot tub. Camping is free for students and indoor accommodation can be booked for a fee. Students will get a communal dinner with the local river people.

Students are required to bring their own breakfast and lunch (packed lunch to the river)

Whitewater Rescue Technician- Recreational

The Whitewater Rescue Technician – Recreational course is designed for recreational

paddlers with existing river experience, to provide you with the necessary skills to

perform rescues in whitewater river situations. Whitewater professionals (eg raft guides,

safety kayakers) should take the Whitewater Rescue Technician – Professional

(WRT-PRO) course.

Course length:

● 12 hours (2 days)

Prerequisites:

● Able to swim

Whitewater Rescue Technician- Professional

The Whitewater Rescue Technician – Professional course is designed for professional

river users, eg raft guides, safety kayakers, with existing river experience, to provide

you with the necessary skills to perform rescues in whitewater river situations.

Recreational paddlers should take the Whitewater Rescue Technician – Recreational

(WRT-REC) course.

Course length:

● 18 hours (3 days)

Prerequisites:

● Confident Swimmer

● 18 Years of age
