Tour Description

The day begins with a pick up in Reykjavík by our partner company Safari Quads. The basecamp is a mere 15 minutes from the city center where you will be provided will all necessary gear. The ride is an experience that is as safe at it is fun. The bikes are automatic and easy to use, all you need to do is hit the throttle and go!

Reykjavík is situated in a stunning and dramatic natural playground. We drive along the lovely Lake Hafravatn and upwards to the top of Hafrafell mountain. We will be able to see stunning surrounding nature, mountains, sea and a view over the capital.

After the tour you will be dropped off at Reykjavík in order to grab a quick bite to eat. You will be picked up again at your bus stop for the second adventure of the day, rafting!

We drive through a classic Icelandic country-side to reach Drumbó River Base. There you get all the equipment necessary in order to feel comfortable cruising down a glacier river. The river is named Hvítá and it originates from Langjökull glacier. We make use of the melting glacier ice during the summer to create a fun rafting experience. The river has a mix of exhilarating rapids and beautiful canyons.

Rafting  is one of the original Icelandic adventures beloved by Icelanders and visitors alike. Few things are more refreshing than getting a glacier river splash in the face!

After the river you can warm up in the sauna and hot tubs and even enjoy a beer while in there. To refuel after all the action you can add a delicious meal to your booking.

FAQ

What equipment do you provide on the tour?

We provide everyone with a neoprene wetsuit long johns, neoprene booties, splash jacket, life-jacket and a helmet. You need to bring warm clothes underneath that you don’t mind getting wet, e.g. fleece sweater, wool pants and wool socks. Neoprene will warm up a bit when wet.

Can I bring a camera with me onboard the raft?

Yes, you can bring your camera. However, if it’s not waterproof then it will get ruined by the river. Luckily, you have a few options to get that great photo;

1. You own a waterproof camera or phone that you bring with you

2. You use our specifically designed laminating machine and make your phone waterproof while still being operational for the river ride.

3. You rent a GoPro from us at Drumbó River Base

4. You buy a disposable waterproof camera at the Drumbó River Base.
