Tour Description

We present to you, the perfect day in Iceland. This combination tour explores The Golden Circle with its amazing sights and allows you to enjoy Icelandic nature from a unique point of view, on a boat cruising down a glacier river.

  • First stop on the adventure is the UNESCO Heritage Site, Þingvellir National Park, abode to the oldest parliament in the world. Not only that, it is also home to one of the most splendid geological sites in Iceland. The park resides in a rift valley that indicates the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge and the border between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. It is also in Þingvellir that we also encounter Iceland’s largest natural lake, Þingvallavatn.

  • Next up, visit the surreal Haukadalur Geothermal Area, home to many hot springs, steam vents and of course the original Geysir and Strokkur geysers. Stick around long enough to watch the Strokkur geyser erupt (around every 10 minutes), spurting a column of water up to 98 foot (30 meters) in the air.

  • The last stop on the classic Golden Circle is the always iconic Gullfoss Waterfall. It never ceases to amaze us, each time, our heart plunges upon viewing its sheer force and its source of seemingly endless water. Gullfoss collapses dramatically into Hvítá river, a river you will become better acquainted with during your rafting trip.

  • Last but not least, next on the itinerary is RAFTING on the Hvítá river, originating from Langjökull glacier. The river features a perfectly balanced mix of serene canyons and exhilarating waves. Believe us, this is the perfect activity to spice up the sightseeing, venturing into the refreshing glacial water and experiencing the power of a real glacier river. After the bigger rapids, you will be amazed as you sail down the breathtaking Brúarhlöð canyon.

A word to the wise, no need to worry about the cold water and the cold temperatures of Iceland as rafting is the original Icelandic adventure, a trip of pure enjoyment. We provide wet-suits to keep you warm, and life-jackets to keep you afloat. The trip is for everyone that is up for a little adventure and is fitting for most ages and abilities.

We truly believe this is the best way to tour the can’t-miss Golden Circle, with an exhilarating rafting trip! Time to get wet!

    • Complimentary pick up service starts 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure. Please be ready at your designated meeting point from 8:30

  • Drumbo River Base is our beloved rafting headquarters situated within the Golden Circle, just a short drive from the iconic Gullfoss waterfall and even closer to Geysir and Strokkur hot springs. From Reykjavík, it takes about 1.5 hours to reach Drumbo from Reykjavík. All of our rafting tours begin from Drumbó and there we get geared up for rafting.

    At Drumbó you find:

    • Changing rooms

    • Showers

    • Hot tubs (outside in the fresh air)

    • Sauna with an infinity window

  • We provide everyone with a neoprene wetsuit long johns, neoprene booties, splash jacket, life-jacket and a helmet. You need to bring warm clothes underneath that you don’t mind getting wet, e.g. fleece sweater, wool pants and wool socks. Neoprene will warm up a bit when wet.

  • Yes, you can bring your camera. However, if it’s not waterproof then it will get ruined.

    Luckily, you have a few options to get that great photo;

    • You own a waterproof camera or phone that you bring with you (make sure it has a string to attach it to your life west).

    • You buy a waterproof plastic pocket from us, to make your phone waterproof while still being operational for the river ride.

    • You rent a GoPro from us at Drumbó River Base

    • You buy a disposable waterproof camera at the Drumbó River Base.

    • You buy photos from us (sometimes the driver takes photos!).

  • We will pick you up at your designated pick up location at the time stated on your voucher. Please note that the pick up can take up to 30 minutes. If you are staying at the very center of Reykjavík it is likely that you will have to go to your designated bus stop.

You can type in your accommodation here to check which one is yours: https://busstop.is/

  • Lunch is not included. We make scheduled stops on the golden circle journey where you can buy snacks or lunch. Should you like, after the afternoon rafting you can add to your booking a delicious traditional Lamb BBQ, hamburger or vegan hamburger to enjoy after the river.
